Marian Valley Shrine of Our Lady Help of Christians
The Shrine of Our Lady Help of Christians is situated at 2541 Beechmont Rd, 10km from Canungra and south of Brisbane in the Gold Coast Hinterland. As an Archdiocesan Shrine of Brisbane it is dedicated to Our Lady Help of Christians, a title under which Mary is particularly honoured in Australia as its Patroness.
At Marian Valley there are many beautiful chapels, donated by generous benefactors including different ethnic communities. Many of them were assisted in the construction by Marian Valley volunteers. All who have contributed to the presence of these chapels give witness to their faith, devotion and love for God and for Our Lady.
The main Chapel is known as the Black Madonna Chapel. The Chapel seats approximately 500 pilgrims. It houses a true copy of the Miraculous Icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa. There is a strong connection between the Pauline Fathers who are custodians of Marian Valley and the Blank Madonna, since they have also been custodians of the original Black Madonna icon for centuries.
One of the most beautiful and inspiring aspects of Marian Valley are the outdoor Stations of the Cross with their lifesize figures that move you to humility, devotion and prayer.
St Joseph's Hermitage Retreat Centre at the Shrine of Our Lady Help of Christians provides an opportunity for extended solitude, prayer and spiritual renewal. Accommodation (self-contained) available for small groups, couples, families and individuals.
Throughout the year there is an active schedule of special feasts on the Calendar. Many ethnic groups make annual pilgrimages to Marian Valley, some of these coincide with celebrations throughout the liturgical year.
3D Interactive Tour
One generious volunteer took 3D pictures of the entire shrine and put them together as an interactive tour. It is a great way to get a virtual tour of Marian Valley and see everything that it has to offer.
